On June 3-7, 2024, SEAMEO RECFON held the Nutrition Goes to School (NGTS) Online Training Program for targeted schools in seven districts, such as Sambas, Klaten, Bogor, Malang, Cirebon, Cimahi, and Yogyakarta. This training was intended as a follow-up to the Institutionalization Stage of the NGTS Program. NGTS Institutionalized Schools/induction schools have selected the “formal” scanning scenario, where targeted schools will first receive orientation through Training on Nutrition and Health for School-age Children and Adolescents before being followed by mentoring from induction schools.

This training is conducted with the aim of enabling participants to enhance their knowledge of nutrition and health for school-age children and adolescents, as well as improve their skills in nutrition and health education in schools/madrasas.

With a substantial number of participants, to maintain focus and ensure maximum understanding, participants are divided into Breakout Room features. In these Breakout Rooms, there are also resource persons/facilitators from SEAMEO RECFON, academic partners from Malang Health Polytechnic, Bandung Health Polytechnic, Pontianak Health Polytechnic, and Tasikmalaya Health Polytechnic, as well as 23 induction schools. In the NGTS Program, there are 11 training topics over 5 days of training (half-day) with 35 learning hours.

Training participants consist of 69 targeted schools/madrasas. Over the course of 5 days, practical activities are divided into Determining Nutritional Status, Developing Balanced Nutrition Menus, Developing Lesson Plans, and Developing Follow-up Plans (RTL).
